Fanatec Wheelbases: Which to Choose Between GT DD Pro, CSL DD, ClubSport DD and Podium DD
In short: you choose a Fanatec wheelbase first by platform and then by torque. On PlayStation, only the Gran Turismo DD Pro (8 Nm) and the ClubSport DD+ (18 Nm) work, and you'll also find them in the GT DD Extreme and Racing F1 bundles. On PC and Xbox you can also choose from the CSL DD (5 or 8 Nm), ClubSport DD (15 Nm) and Podium DD (25 Nm); on Xbox you also need a Fanatec rim with an Xbox licence. In 2026 Fanatec increased the torque of the ClubSport models via firmware, so product pages stating 12 and 15 Nm are no longer up to date.
Fanatec is one of the most sought-after brands among those looking for a direct drive wheelbase, especially for PlayStation. It's also a range where it's easy to get confused, between similar names, bundles and recently updated torque figures. In this guide we put the five wheelbases in our catalogue in order. We look at how to read the declared Nm, which platform each wheelbase works on, where to mount it and which accessories you really need. For each wheelbase you'll also find the available configurations, with up-to-date prices.

Fanatec wheelbases at a glance
Our catalogue includes five Fanatec direct drive wheelbases. When choosing, the platform matters more than torque: it's the criterion that narrows down the choice more than any other.
| Wheelbase | Torque declared by Fanatec | PS5 and PS4 | Xbox | PC | Base-side mount | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fanatec CSL DD | 5 Nm peak, 8 Nm with Boost Kit 180 | No | Yes, with an Xbox-licensed rim | Yes | QR2 Lite (Type-C) | €329 (5 Nm), €429 (8 Nm) |
| Fanatec Gran Turismo DD Pro | 8 Nm peak (Boost Kit 180 included) | Yes, officially licensed | Yes, with an Xbox-compatible rim | Yes | QR2 Lite (Type-C) | 499 € |
| Fanatec ClubSport DD | 15 Nm holding | No | Yes, with an Xbox-licensed rim | Yes | QR2 (Type-F) | 599 € |
| Fanatec ClubSport DD+ | 18 Nm holding | Yes, officially licensed | Yes, with an Xbox-compatible rim | Yes | QR2 (Type-F) | 799 € |
| Fanatec Podium DD | 25 Nm holding, 33 Nm peak | No | Yes, with an Xbox-licensed rim | Yes | QR2 (Type-F) | 1.099 € |
Prices refer to the wheelbase only. The GT DD Pro and ClubSport DD+ are also available in bundles with a steering wheel, and some include pedals: you'll find them in the dedicated sections and in the Fanatec Bundles collection. The Gran Turismo DD Extreme is not a separate wheelbase: it's a bundle that combines the ClubSport DD+ with a dedicated steering wheel.

Peak torque and holding torque: how to read the Nm
Fanatec doesn't state torque in the same way for all its wheelbases, and this is the first source of confusion when comparing models.
- Peak torque: the maximum force the wheelbase can deliver. Fanatec uses it for the CSL DD and GT DD Pro (5 Nm, or 8 Nm with the Boost Kit 180).
- Holding torque (sustained torque): the force the wheelbase maintains constantly, for example in a long, fast corner. Fanatec uses it for the ClubSport DD, ClubSport DD+ and Podium DD.
The Podium DD declares both values: 25 Nm holding and 33 Nm peak. It's the clearest example of why two figures of a different type shouldn't be put on the same level. When comparing two wheelbases, make sure you're comparing values of the same type.
How much force these Nm are, in practice
The newton metre (Nm) is the unit of measurement of torque, i.e. the ability of a force to rotate an object around an axis. To get a concrete idea, simply divide the torque by the radius of the rim. On a 300 mm diameter steering wheel the radius is 0.15 m, so the wheelbase torque corresponds to a force at the edge of the rim equal to these values:
| Torque | Force at the edge of a 300 mm rim | Like lifting about |
|---|---|---|
| 5 Nm peak (CSL DD, GT DD Pro without Boost Kit) | 33 N | 3.4 kg |
| 8 Nm peak (CSL DD and GT DD Pro with Boost Kit) | 53 N | 5.4 kg |
| 15 Nm holding (ClubSport DD) | 100 N | 10.2 kg |
| 18 Nm holding (ClubSport DD+) | 120 N | 12.2 kg |
| 25 Nm holding (Podium DD) | 167 N | 17.0 kg |
This is a simplification: the wheelbase only reaches these values when the game demands them, and the force you feel also depends on your settings and the diameter of the rim. With a smaller rim, at the same torque, the force at the edge increases. The table does, however, give an idea of the jump from one band to the next, and of why mounting becomes decisive at 15-25 Nm.
Remember too that more torque means more headroom, not necessarily a better drive. High torque reproduces force peaks and heavy cars better, but it needs to be handled with solid mounting and adjusted in the software. How many Nm you really need depends on the car, the rim and the cockpit: we explain this in the direct drive wheelbase guide.
What changed in 2026
In 2026 the Fanatec range received three new developments that change the comparison between wheelbases. Many reviews and product pages published earlier don't take them into account.
More torque for the ClubSport DD and DD+
With a free firmware update, installable from the Fanatec App (version V1.4.2.3 or later, May 2026), Fanatec increased the holding torque of the ClubSport models. The hardware and power supplies remain the same:
- ClubSport DD: from 12 to 15 Nm;
- ClubSport DD+: from 15 to 18 Nm. The increase also applies to the Gran Turismo DD Extreme and ClubSport Racing F1 bundles, which use the DD+.
Fanatec explains the details on its More torque, same hardware page. If you come across a ClubSport DD described as a 12 Nm wheelbase, or a 15 Nm DD+, that source dates from before the update. Some previously published information pages also still show the old values.
FullForce on the CSL DD and GT DD Pro
FullForce is the protocol Fanatec uses to add high-frequency vibration effects to force feedback, making details such as kerbs and loss of grip easier to read. It was already available on ClubSport and Podium. Since June 2026, with firmware V1.5.1.2 or later, it has also come to the CSL DD and GT DD Pro. On the Boost Kit versions, Fanatec also states improved holding torque, while peak torque remains 8 Nm. Like all effects of this kind, FullForce only works in games that support it.
The new Podium DD
2026 also saw the arrival of the Podium DD, the new flagship wheelbase with 25 Nm of holding torque. We cover it in the dedicated section.
PlayStation, Xbox and PC: the rule to remember
In the Fanatec ecosystem, console compatibility works like this:
- On PlayStation, the wheelbase is what counts. Only the Gran Turismo DD Pro and the ClubSport DD+ are licensed for PS5 and PS4. The CSL DD, ClubSport DD and Podium DD are not compatible with PlayStation, and Fanatec specifies that they cannot be upgraded to become so. Fitting a steering wheel from another brand doesn't make an unlicensed wheelbase compatible either.
- On Xbox, the steering wheel is what counts. Fanatec wheelbases work on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S when you fit a Fanatec rim with an Xbox licence, such as the CSL GT3. Fanatec explains this in its Xbox compatibility guide: the rule applies to every wheelbase in the range, GT DD Pro included. Pedals, shifters and handbrakes must be connected directly to the wheelbase; peripherals connected only via USB work on PC only.
- On PC, they all work, with a Fanatec steering wheel or with a hub that connects rims from other brands.
The GT DD Pro is also the only Fanatec wheelbase you'll find on PlayStation's official page of the best steering wheels for PS5 and PS4, where it's presented as the official direct drive wheelbase for Gran Turismo.
This leads to a practical tip: PlayStation-licensed wheelbases are the most versatile. The GT DD Pro and ClubSport DD+ work on PC and PlayStation and, with the right rim, on Xbox too. If you play on PC today but are thinking of getting a PS5, it's worth bearing in mind before you buy.
CSL DD: the entry point to Fanatec direct drive
The CSL DD is the most compact and affordable wheelbase in the range, designed for those getting into direct drive on PC or Xbox. The motor is developed in Germany with patented FluxBarrier technology, the same that Fanatec also cites for the ClubSport models. The wheelbase comes with the QR2 Lite base-side mount (Type-C) pre-installed, which according to Fanatec works with all versions of the QR2 wheel-side (Lite, standard and Pro).
5 Nm or 8 Nm?
The CSL DD comes in two versions with the same hardware. What changes is the power supply:
- CSL DD QR2 (5 Nm), €329: standard 90 W power supply and 5 Nm peak;
- CSL DD QR2 (8 Nm), €429: includes the Boost Kit 180, a 180 W power supply that takes the wheelbase to 8 Nm peak.
There's a €100 difference between the two versions, practically the price of the Boost Kit 180 sold separately (€99). If you think you'll end up at 8 Nm, it makes sense to start straight away with the 8 Nm version. If your budget is tight, you can start at 5 Nm and add the Boost Kit later: the wheelbase recognises it automatically, with no configuration needed.
CSL DD bundles
If you're starting from scratch, the Ready2Race bundles bring together wheelbase, steering wheel and pedals:
- CSL DD QR2 Ready2Race Bundle (5 Nm), €429: 5 Nm wheelbase, 300 mm CSL P1 V2 steering wheel and two-pedal CSL pedal set. It costs the same as the 8 Nm wheelbase on its own, but includes a steering wheel and pedals.
- CSL DD Ready2Race GT3 Bundle (5 Nm), €529: 5 Nm wheelbase, 300 mm GT3 steering wheel with magnetic paddle shifters and two-pedal CSL pedal set. The CSL GT3 steering wheel is Xbox-licensed, so this setup works on Xbox as well as PC.
At 5 or 8 Nm, the CSL DD also mounts well on a sturdy desk: you'll find clamps and alternatives in the Desk or cockpit section.
GT DD Pro and GT DD Extreme: the PlayStation wheelbases
Gran Turismo DD Pro
The Gran Turismo DD Pro is the official direct drive wheelbase for PlayStation 5 and PS4, and it also works on PC. It shares its torque (5 or 8 Nm peak), the Boost Kit 180 and the QR2 Lite quick release with the CSL DD: the difference that matters is the PlayStation licence. The bundle's steering wheel was designed by Polyphony Digital for Gran Turismo: it has a 280 mm diameter, an OLED display, the RevLED strip and four directional switches assigned to Gran Turismo 7's quick adjustments.
In our catalogue you'll find it in three configurations:
| Setup | What's included | Torque | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| GT DD Pro (8 Nm), wheelbase only | Wheelbase with Boost Kit 180 and QR2 pre-installed. Steering wheel sold separately | 8 Nm | 499 € |
| Gran Turismo DD Pro (5 Nm) Bundle | Wheelbase, GT DD Pro steering wheel, CSL pedals and table clamp | 5 Nm, 8 Nm with Boost Kit | 649 € |
| Gran Turismo DD Pro (8 Nm) Bundle | Same as the 5 Nm bundle, with the Boost Kit 180 included | 8 Nm | 749 € |
The 5 Nm bundle plus the Boost Kit (€649 + €99) costs the same as the 8 Nm bundle. So you can start at 5 Nm and move up to 8 Nm later on, without spending any more.
GT DD Pro or CSL DD?
The choice depends on your platform. If you play on PlayStation, or think you might in future, the answer is the GT DD Pro: the CSL DD is not compatible with PlayStation and cannot be made compatible. If you only play on PC or Xbox, the CSL DD costs less for the same torque (€429 vs €499 for the 8 Nm versions).
Gran Turismo DD Extreme
The Gran Turismo DD Extreme (€1,099) is Fanatec's most advanced Gran Turismo system, for PlayStation 5 and PC. It combines the ClubSport DD+, now rated at 18 Nm, with a steering wheel developed together with Polyphony Digital. The steering wheel has a 300 mm diameter, a 2.7" OLED display, 19 RGB LEDs, magnetic paddle shifters and two analogue clutch paddles. Fanatec points out that pedals are not included.
ClubSport Racing F1 Bundle
If you prefer single-seaters, there's the ClubSport Racing F1 Bundle (€1,149). It pairs the 18 Nm ClubSport DD+ with a Formula steering wheel officially licensed by Formula 1 and PlayStation 5, also compatible with PS4 and PC. Here too, the pedals have to be chosen separately.

ClubSport DD and DD+: the mid-range
The ClubSport DD and ClubSport DD+ are almost identical on the outside and share the same technical platform:
- motor with FluxBarrier technology;
- FullForce effects;
- reinforced aluminium shaft and optimised cooling system;
- pre-installed QR2 base-side quick release (Type-F);
- mounting with T-nuts on the side rails.
There are three differences:
| ClubSport DD | ClubSport DD+ | |
|---|---|---|
| Holding torque | 15 Nm (12 Nm before 2026) | 18 Nm (15 Nm before 2026) |
| PlayStation 5 and PS4 | No | Yes, officially licensed |
| Price | 599 € | 799 € |
On PC, and on Xbox with an Xbox-licensed rim, both work. The ClubSport DD is the logical choice if you race on PC or Xbox and want a clear step up from the CSL DD. The ClubSport DD+ makes sense if you also play on PlayStation. According to Fanatec, it's also suited to anyone using heavy rims or simulating cars without power steering, where the extra torque headroom is noticeable.
As well as the PlayStation bundles covered above, the DD+ is available with high-end Leoxz rims: ClubSport DD+ + XGT Ultimate (€1,599) for GT cars and ClubSport DD+ + XF1 Ultimate (€1,649) for single-seaters, both with the Leoxz wireless kit included. For these bundles with a rim from another brand, check compatibility with your platform on the product page, or ask us before you buy.
At 15-18 Nm, mounting becomes important: you'll find suitable table clamps and cockpits in the Desk or cockpit section.
Podium DD: the flagship wheelbase
The Podium DD (€1,099) is Fanatec's new flagship wheelbase, unveiled in January 2026: 25 Nm holding torque and 33 Nm peak. Its main features:
- all-aluminium body, with cooling fins that double as mounting rails for T-nuts (four included);
- pre-installed QR2 base-side quick release (Type-F);
- FullForce effects;
- a 10 cm shaft extension, included and optional to fit, useful for better positioning the steering wheel and monitor.
It works on PC, and on Xbox with an Xbox-licensed Fanatec rim. It is not compatible with PlayStation: if you play on PS5 and want the top of the range, your options are the ClubSport DD+ and its bundles. If you'd like a report on the launch, you can also find one on Automoto.it.
With 25 Nm, the Podium DD needs a rigid cockpit: on a desk it wouldn't deliver its full potential. In our catalogue it's available on its own or in bundles with Fanatec rims:
| Bundle | Rim | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Podium DD + CSL GT3 | 300 mm round GT3 rim, Xbox-licensed | 1.298 € |
| Podium DD + ClubSport RS | 320 mm round rim, versatile, also for rally and drift | 1.428 € |
| Podium DD + ClubSport Formula V2.5 | Formula rim for single-seaters | 1.468 € |
| Podium DD + BMW M4 GT3 | Podium steering wheel developed with BMW M Motorsport | 2.598 € |
The natural partner for the Podium DD is the Podium Sport pedals (€599), a two-pedal set with a forged aluminium brake pedal and a load cell rated at over 200 kg.
Boost Kit, QR2 and Wheel Hub: the accessories that matter
Boost Kit 180
The Boost Kit 180 (€99) is a 180 W power supply that replaces the standard 90 W unit. It takes the CSL DD and GT DD Pro from 5 to 8 Nm peak, and the wheelbase recognises the upgrade automatically. Before you buy it, bear three things in mind:
- it works only with the CSL DD and GT DD Pro and is not compatible with any other Fanatec wheelbase;
- it's already included with the 8 Nm CSL DD, the GT DD Pro sold as a wheelbase only and the 8 Nm GT DD Pro bundle;
- Fanatec only approves the standard power supply or the Boost Kit: using any other power supply voids the wheelbase warranty.
The QR2 system
QR2 is the quick release system that attaches the rim to the wheelbase and lets you swap it in a few seconds. It has two sides:
- Base-side, already fitted: Type-C on the CSL DD and GT DD Pro, Type-F on the ClubSport DD, DD+ and Podium DD.
- Wheel-side, fitted to the rim: either the Lite version in reinforced polymer, or in aluminium, like the QR2 (Wheel-Side) (€89).
For the CSL DD and GT DD Pro there's also the QR2 (Base-Side) Type-C (€59).
Which wheel-side QR2 you have matters when you move to a more powerful wheelbase. Fanatec explains that, with the QR2 Lite wheel-side, some rims remain limited to 8 Nm on the ClubSport DD, DD+ and Podium DD, while others can use full torque. To get full torque, the quick release Fanatec recommends is the metal QR2 wheel-side.
| Rim with QR2 Lite | On ClubSport DD, DD+ and Podium DD | Price |
|---|---|---|
| CSL GT3 | Full torque | 199 € |
| ClubSport F1 Esports V2 | Full torque | 239 € |
| CSL Elite Porsche Vision GT | Full torque | 349 € |
| CSL P1 V2 | Limited to 8 Nm | 139 € |
| CSL BMW | Limited to 8 Nm | 159 € |
| CSL Elite WRC | Limited to 8 Nm | 219 € |
| GT DD Pro bundle steering wheel | Limited to 8 Nm | included in the bundle |
In practice: if you have a GT DD Pro bundle and are thinking of moving to a ClubSport DD+, the bundle's steering wheel stays limited to 8 Nm on the new wheelbase too. Factor that in when you're weighing up the upgrade.
Wheel Hub and extension
- Fanatec Wheel Hub (€99): lets you connect USB steering wheels from other brands to Fanatec wheelbases, with 70 mm and 50.8 mm bolt patterns. These steering wheels usually connect to the PC with a USB cable.
- Fanatec Hub Extender (€119): moves the steering wheel 150 mm further from the wheelbase, useful for fitting the monitor between wheelbase and steering wheel.
Desk or cockpit: where to mount your wheelbase
The wheelbase's torque also determines where to mount it. More Nm means more force transferred to whatever it's mounted on: if the surface flexes or vibrates, the force feedback loses precision, especially at the peaks.
- CSL DD and GT DD Pro (5-8 Nm): a sturdy desk is a good starting point. For the CSL DD there's the CSL DD Table Clamp (€54), with a 15° tilt; the GT DD Pro bundles already include a table clamp.
- ClubSport DD and DD+ (15-18 Nm): the ClubSport DD Table Clamp (€119) fits desktops from 5 to 60 mm thick and has a tilt adjustable from 0° to 20°, or up to 40° if mounted the other way round. It can also be used with the CSL DD and GT DD Pro. If you often use full torque, though, a dedicated cockpit is still the most stable solution.
- Podium DD (25 Nm): you need a rigid cockpit, to which you secure it with the included T-nuts.
If you play on PlayStation and want to start straight away with a cockpit, there's the ARCSIM GT-M + Gran Turismo DD Pro (8 Nm) bundle (€1,348). For the more powerful wheelbases, ARC SIM GT-X cockpits, our range built on 135×45 aluminium profiles, start from €909. We explain how to choose between a desk and a cockpit based on the space you have in our guide to home driving simulators.
Steering wheel and pedals to pair with it
The rim
If you buy the wheelbase on its own, you need to choose the rim separately. Three practical criteria:
- Platform: on Xbox you need an Xbox-licensed rim, such as the CSL GT3 (€199), the CSL Elite WRC (€219) or, among the Formula rims, the ClubSport Formula V2.5 X (€369). On PlayStation and PC, compatibility depends on the wheelbase.
- Wheelbase torque: on the ClubSport models and the Podium DD, check in the QR2 table whether the rim can handle full torque.
- Driving style: round for GT, rally and mixed use, like the ClubSport RS (€329); Formula for single-seaters, like the ClubSport Formula V3 (€349). You'll find all the Formula rims in the Fanatec Formula collection.
The pedals
Fanatec pedals connect to the wheelbase and are chosen according to your budget and the type of braking you're after:
| Pedals | Type | Price |
|---|---|---|
| CSL Pedals | Travel-based, two pedals with Hall sensors, expandable | 99 € |
| CSL Load Cell Kit | Load cell upgrade for the CSL Pedals | 79 € |
| CSL Pedals LC | Load cell | 179 € |
| CSL Elite V2 | Load cell, aluminium pedals | 299 € |
| ClubSport V3 | Adjustable 90 kg load cell | 329 € |
| Podium Sport | Load cell rated at over 200 kg, two pedals | 599 € |
The GT DD Pro and CSL DD Ready2Race bundles already include the CSL pedals. The first upgrade we recommend is the load cell kit. A load cell measures the force you apply to the pedal, not how far you move it: braking depends on foot pressure, just like in a real car, and is easier to repeat lap after lap. To compare models from other brands too, browse the Sim racing pedals collection.
First start-up: Fanatec App, firmware and profiles
Whichever wheelbase you choose, once it's mounted the first step is the software. Since 2025 Fanatec has used the Fanatec App, which replaced the old Fanatec Control Panel and FanaLab. From the app you can:
- update the firmware of the wheelbase and your Fanatec peripherals;
- adjust the force feedback and manage profiles for individual games;
- calibrate and test the steering wheel and pedals;
- configure the steering wheel LEDs based on in-game telemetry.
Two things to know before you buy:
- New firmware only comes through the app. Fanatec distributes updates exclusively via the Fanatec App, including the ones that increased the torque of the ClubSport models and brought FullForce to the CSL DD and GT DD Pro. For the most recent products, such as the CSL GT3 rim and the Podium DD, the app is mandatory.
- You need a Windows PC, even if you play on console. The app runs on Windows 11, which Fanatec recommends, and on Windows 10. So to update the firmware you'll need to connect the wheelbase to a PC, at least from time to time.
The wheelbase stores five tuning profiles; with the app you can also manage profiles for individual games. During an update, never disconnect the wheelbase's USB cable or power, and use the cables supplied by Fanatec.
Which Fanatec wheelbase to choose for each platform
To sum up, here are the setups we recommend for each platform, starting from the most affordable. You'll find them all, with links to the product pages, in the sections above.
| Platform | If you're looking for | Setup | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| PS5 and PS4 | Your first complete setup | Gran Turismo DD Pro (5 Nm) Bundle | 649 € |
| PS5 and PS4 | A complete 8 Nm setup | Gran Turismo DD Pro (8 Nm) Bundle | 749 € |
| PS5 and PS4 | Just the wheelbase, so you can choose the rim and pedals | GT DD Pro (8 Nm) or ClubSport DD+ | 499 € / 799 € |
| PS5 and PS4 | The best for Gran Turismo | Gran Turismo DD Extreme | 1.099 € |
| PS5 and PS4 | Single-seaters | ClubSport Racing F1 Bundle | 1.149 € |
| Xbox (and PC) | Your first complete setup | CSL DD Ready2Race GT3 Bundle (5 Nm) | 529 € |
| Xbox (and PC) | More torque | ClubSport DD + CSL GT3 | 599 + 199 € |
| Xbox (and PC) | The flagship wheelbase | Podium DD + CSL GT3 | 1.298 € |
| PC | Your first complete setup | CSL DD QR2 Ready2Race Bundle (5 Nm) | 429 € |
| PC | Wheelbase only, entry level | CSL DD (8 Nm) | 429 € |
| PC | Mid-range | ClubSport DD | 599 € |
| PC | The flagship wheelbase | Podium DD | 1.099 € |
If you play on PC but want to keep the PlayStation option open, consider the GT DD Pro or ClubSport DD+ instead of the CSL DD and ClubSport DD. If you only race on PC and want to compare Fanatec with other brands, our guide to the best steering wheel for PC sets out the configurations by price bracket.
Three typical profiles
- You play Gran Turismo 7 on PS5, at a desk: the 5 or 8 Nm GT DD Pro bundle is the natural starting point. It has everything you need, table clamp included, and the steering wheel is designed for GT7's quick adjustments.
- You race on PC with a cockpit and want a wheelbase that will last: the ClubSport DD offers 15 Nm holding torque and FullForce for €599. If you also want to keep PS5 open as an option, the DD+ costs €200 more and adds the PlayStation licence and 3 Nm.
- You want the very best on PC or Xbox: the Podium DD, with a rim that can handle full torque and a rigid cockpit. The bundle with the CSL GT3 also covers Xbox.
If you already own a Fanatec wheelbase
- 5 Nm CSL DD or GT DD Pro: the cheapest step up is the Boost Kit 180, which takes the wheelbase to 8 Nm.
- ClubSport DD or DD+ bought before 2026: update the firmware from the Fanatec App to get 15 or 18 Nm, without changing any hardware.
- Moving to a ClubSport or Podium: first check whether your rims can handle full torque with their wheel-side QR2.
Mistakes to avoid
- Buying a CSL DD for PlayStation. It isn't compatible and can't be upgraded: on PS5 you need the GT DD Pro or ClubSport DD+.
- Comparing peak Nm and holding Nm as if they were the same thing. Fanatec quotes peak torque for the CSL DD and GT DD Pro and holding torque for the ClubSport and Podium.
- Relying on outdated product pages. The ClubSport DD and DD+ now deliver 15 and 18 Nm, no longer 12 and 15 Nm.
- Not updating the firmware. A ClubSport with firmware older than V1.4.2.3 stays at 12 or 15 Nm, and without V1.5.1.2 the CSL DD and GT DD Pro don't have FullForce.
- Buying the Boost Kit twice. It's already included with the 8 Nm CSL DD, the GT DD Pro sold on its own and the 8 Nm GT DD Pro bundle, and it doesn't work on the ClubSport or Podium.
- Moving to a more powerful wheelbase with a rim limited to 8 Nm. Check the version of your wheel-side QR2 and the rim's torque limit.
- Mounting a 15-25 Nm wheelbase on an unstable surface. High torque calls for solid mounting; for the Podium DD, a dedicated cockpit.
Frequently asked questions
Does the Fanatec CSL DD work on PS5?
No. The CSL DD works on PC and, with an Xbox-licensed Fanatec rim, on Xbox. Fanatec states that it cannot be updated to become compatible with PlayStation. For PS5 and PS4 you need the Gran Turismo DD Pro or the ClubSport DD+.
What's the difference between the Fanatec GT DD Pro and CSL DD?
The main difference is the PlayStation licence: the GT DD Pro works on PS5, PS4 and PC, the CSL DD on PC and Xbox. Torque (5 or 8 Nm peak), Boost Kit 180 and QR2 Lite quick release are the same. The GT DD Pro is also available in a bundle with the steering wheel designed by Polyphony Digital for Gran Turismo.
Does the Fanatec GT DD Pro work on PC and Xbox?
On PC, yes, with all the main sims. On Xbox it only works if you fit an Xbox-compatible Fanatec rim, such as the CSL GT3: on Xbox, compatibility depends on the steering wheel, not the wheelbase.
Does the ClubSport DD have 12 or 15 Nm? And the DD+ 15 or 18 Nm?
Today the ClubSport DD has 15 Nm holding torque and the DD+ 18 Nm. Fanatec increased the torque in 2026 with a free firmware update (V1.4.2.3 or later), with no hardware changes. Wheelbases already in use get the increase by updating the firmware from the Fanatec App.
How many Nm do you really need with a Fanatec wheelbase?
For most drivers 8 Nm is already enough: it's the figure Fanatec indicates as suitable for most racing situations. The ClubSport DD and DD+ give you headroom for heavy cars, rally and large rims; the Podium DD makes sense if you want the very best and have a rigid cockpit.
Do you need the Boost Kit 180?
Only if you have a 5 Nm CSL DD or GT DD Pro and want to reach 8 Nm peak. It's already included with the 8 Nm CSL DD, the GT DD Pro sold as a wheelbase only and the 8 Nm GT DD Pro bundle. It doesn't work with the ClubSport or Podium.
Does the Podium DD work on PS5?
No. The Podium DD works on PC, and on Xbox with an Xbox-licensed Fanatec rim. On PlayStation, the Fanatec wheelbase with the most torque is the 18 Nm ClubSport DD+.
Does the Gran Turismo DD Extreme include pedals?
No. The Gran Turismo DD Extreme includes the ClubSport DD+ wheelbase and its dedicated steering wheel; pedals are bought separately. For PlayStation, the bundles with pedals included are the 5 and 8 Nm Gran Turismo DD Pro bundles.
Do Fanatec pedals work on console?
Yes, if you connect them directly to the wheelbase: in that case they're part of the system and work on the same platform as the wheelbase (on Xbox, with an Xbox-licensed rim). Peripherals connected only via USB work on PC only.
Do you need a PC to use a Fanatec wheelbase on console?
To update the firmware, yes. Fanatec distributes new firmware only through the Fanatec App, which runs on Windows: it's best to connect the wheelbase to a PC the first time you set it up and whenever an update comes out.
What is Fanatec FullForce?
It's a protocol that adds high-frequency vibration effects to the force feedback. It's available on the ClubSport DD, DD+ and Podium DD and, since June 2026, also on the CSL DD and GT DD Pro with the latest firmware. It only works in games that support it.
Can I mount a Fanatec wheelbase on a desk?
Yes, the CSL DD, GT DD Pro, ClubSport DD and DD+ can be secured to a desk with their dedicated table clamps. With the ClubSport models at full torque, and with the Podium DD, a rigid cockpit is the better choice.
