Simagic GT Neo, GT Neo X, FX Pro and Zeus Steering Wheels: Differences and Which to Choose
In short: among Simagic steering wheels, four cover almost every need. The GT Neo (€289) is the most popular: complete, with shift paddles and clutch paddles included. The GT Neo X is a hub to which you fit the rim of your choice, including other brands' rims with a 6×70 mm bolt pattern. The FX Pro (€609) is the formula steering wheel with an integrated display. The Zeus series (from €399) adds interchangeable rims and the MagicDash 4 display. For a round leather steering wheel there are the GTS and GT Pro. The Aston Martin Valkyrie (€979) is the officially licensed replica of the hypercar's steering wheel, with a 5-inch touch display. They all work on PC; the GT Neo, GT Neo X and Zeus can also be fitted to other brands' wheelbases with the MagLink adapters.
The steering wheel is the part of your cockpit you hold for the whole session: shape, diameter and control layout determine how comfortable you are, lap after lap. In this guide we compare the Simagic steering wheels we sell using data from Simagic's product pages and catalogues, explain when to choose a GT or a formula steering wheel, what you need for the MagicDash 4 on each wheelbase and how to use a Simagic steering wheel on another brand's wheelbase. If you don't have a wheelbase yet, start with our Simagic Alpha EVO wheelbase guide.

All of them come with the Simagic QR50 quick release in the box (the Zeus models in the Zeus QR50 version, the Valkyrie in the AM QR50 version) and are configured with SimPro Manager, Simagic's Windows software. They fit Alpha EVO wheelbases without adapters; what you need on previous-generation Alpha wheelbases and on other brands' wheelbases is covered further down.
GT or formula: shape and diameter
The first choice is the shape. A GT or round steering wheel has a closed rim and a diameter between 300 and 350 mm: it lets your hands slide round when countersteering and is the right choice for GT, touring cars, rally, drift and trucks. A formula steering wheel has open grips, is smaller (280-290 mm on Simagic models) and puts many more controls under your thumbs: it's designed for single-seaters and prototypes, where your hands always stay in the same position.
Real single-seaters have so many controls because the driver adjusts the car while driving. In its article on the SF90 steering wheel, Ferrari describes the manettini for the power unit and engine mapping, the rotaries for the differential and the clutch paddle used for standing starts. Simagic's formula steering wheels follow the same approach: encoders and multi-function switches to change brake bias, traction control or maps without taking your hands off the steering wheel.
Diameter matters too, and not just for grip. The force you feel at the edge of the steering wheel is the wheelbase's torque divided by the radius, as the physics of torque explains. With the same wheelbase, about 18% more force reaches the edge of a 280 mm steering wheel than that of a 330 mm one. A small steering wheel is quicker in changes of direction and heavier in your hands; a large one is easier to hold in slides. To work out how much torque you need, read our guide on how many Nm a direct drive wheelbase needs.
GT Neo: the starting point
The GT Neo is the Simagic steering wheel we sell most, and it's the one we recommend starting with. Simagic classes it as Formula/GT: it has the open silicone grips of a formula steering wheel but the 300 mm diameter of a GT one, and it suits both single-seaters and modern GT cars well. The structure is made of carbon fibre composite and weighs 1.1 kg without the quick release.
There are plenty of controls for the price range: 10 RGB buttons, 4 backlit 12-position central encoders, 2 aluminium thumb encoders, 2 7-way switches and 15 LEDs for revs and shift points. The aluminium paddle module has 4 paddles: 2 for shifting, with Hall effect sensors that don't wear out, and 2 analogue clutch paddles with an adjustable bite point, useful for starts. On a Simagic wheelbase it transmits data wirelessly through the quick release; the USB-C port is for firmware updates.
On the product page it has 19 reviews, all 5 stars. Customers mainly mention the quality for the price and how customisable it is; one uses it on a Simucube 3 Pro wheelbase and notes that the telemetry LEDs are less vivid than those on his old Fanatec steering wheel. With the Alpha EVO Sport wheelbase you'll find it in the Alpha EVO Sport + GT Neo bundle at €739, €39 less than buying the two separately.
GT Neo X: the hub that lets you choose your rim
The GT Neo X is a hub: the central part with the controls, LEDs and electronics, without a rim or paddles. On the front it has the standard 6×70 mm bolt pattern, the same as MOMO, Sparco and OMP rims, so you can fit a Simagic rim or one from these brands. It's the right choice if you already have a rim you like or want to swap it depending on what you're driving.
The hub has 8 RGB buttons, 2 7-way switches, 2 12-position encoders with RGB LEDs, 2 thumb encoders, 9 rev LEDs and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi connectivity. It weighs 1,075 g with the QR50 quick release, which is included. Paddles are added with the UP+ modular system: the 2-paddle module (€49) for shifting only, or the 4-paddle module (€69) with dual clutch paddles. They have Hall sensors and adjust in width, distance and thickness, so they suit rims of different diameters. For the GT Neo X, GT Neo and Zeus there are also the push-pull module (€79), which shifts gear by pulling or pushing the same paddle, and the 6-paddle module (€99), with three per side: shift, clutch and an upper paddle; with the GT Neo and GT Neo X it requires SimPro Manager 3.0 or later.
If you'd rather not choose the rim and paddles yourself, there are complete versions with hub, Simagic rim and quick release:
- GT Neo X 310G (€299): a 310 mm carbon composite GT rim, inspired by mid-engined supercars, with 4 paddles.
- GT Neo X 330R (€299): a 330 mm round rim, aluminium faceplate and black leather with red details, for road-going GT driving. 4 paddles including dual clutch paddles.
- GT Neo X 330T (€299): a 330 mm round rim in CNC aluminium and perforated synthetic leather, designed for rally. 4 paddles with Hall sensors.
- GT Neo X 350W (€289): 349 mm, CNC aluminium frame, perforated leather and extensions at 3 and 9 o'clock for drifting and off-road driving.
The only review of the hub, a 5-star one, praises the ability to swap rims and the button layout, with almost every button reachable without taking your eyes off the monitor.
FX Pro: the formula steering wheel with a display
The FX Pro is Simagic's formula steering wheel. According to the Simagic catalogue, it has a 290 mm rim made entirely of carbon fibre, silicone grips and a 4.3-inch LCD display with multiple screens for revs, gear and real-time data. The controls are 12 RGB buttons, 5 encoders, 4 thumb encoders and a 7-way switch, plus S-ray RGB lighting; on the back there are 6 paddles with Hall sensors. It weighs 1.7 kg.
The display is the reason to choose it: gear, revs and race data are right in front of you, just like in a single-seater, with no extra screens on your cockpit. On the product page it has 4 reviews, all 5 stars, praising its materials, grip and paddles. Two useful notes: one customer recommends a steering wheel without a display for anyone racing with a VR headset, because you can't see the screen inside the headset; another reports slight flex in the grips on the open side. The FX Pro is designed for Simagic wheelbases.
GTS and GT Pro: the round steering wheels
If you mainly drive GT, rally or trucks and want a round steering wheel with a wrapped rim, there are two options.
The GTS (€289) has a 300 mm magnesium-aluminium alloy rim with a leather grip and weighs 1.45 kg. It has 7 RGB buttons, 2 encoders, 2 7-way switches, S-ray RGB lighting and Hall paddles. Simagic presents it as the steering wheel for every discipline, from rally to drift, from circuit racing to trucks: it's the most versatile choice if you don't want a steering wheel dedicated to a single discipline.
The GT Pro steering wheels (€449 each) have a carbon fibre and CNC aluminium hub, 8 RGB buttons, dedicated encoders for traction control and ABS, and Hall paddles with dual clutch paddles. The GT Pro D has a 325 mm D-shaped rim, with a flat bottom that leaves room for your legs in low driving positions, and 9 rev LEDs. The GT Pro R is a round 330 mm steering wheel for rally, drift and GT. They connect wirelessly to all Alpha and Alpha EVO wheelbases. The customer who reviewed the R calls it "the best round steering wheel I've ever held".
Zeus and MagicDash 4
Zeus is Simagic's newest series and takes a different approach: interchangeable rims, modular paddles and an optional display, the MagicDash 4, which mounts in the centre of the steering wheel in place of the cover. The Zeus steering wheels communicate with the wheelbase via CAN FD or USB and come with the Zeus QR50 quick release included. There are three models.
- Zeus Sport (€399): round, 320 mm, in leather and suede, with interchangeable rims. It has 8 RGB buttons, 2 7-way switches, 2 12-position rotaries, 2 thumb encoders and 15 RGB rev LEDs. Simagic recommends it for GT, rally, drift, touring cars and trucks.
- Zeus GT (€429): 300 mm, shaped like the steering wheels of GT3 and modern endurance cars. It has 10 RGB buttons, 2 7-way switches and 3 12-position encoders. It accepts 300 and 320 mm rims: Simagic plans up to 9 designs, D-shaped, squared or flat-topped. They are sold separately at €109 each, for example the Zeus GT-320MS leather rim.
- Zeus Formula (€609): 280 mm, 5 mm carbon faceplate and CNC aluminium body, up to 92 mappable controls and 91 RGB zones. The magnetic paddles can be configured as push-pull, dual or triple.
The MagicDash 4 is a 3.97-inch (800×480) touch display with 15 rev and shift LEDs and 6 side LEDs. It shows gear, revs, delta, temperatures and warnings, and is configured with SimPro Manager or SimHub, the dashboard and lighting software widely used in sim racing. On its own it costs €239 with the Air Link and €269 with the MagDock. Buying it together with the steering wheel pays off: the Zeus GT with MagicDash 4 and Air Link costs €619, €49 less than buying them separately. The versions with display cost €569 (Sport), €619 (GT) and €819 (Formula) with the Air Link for Alpha EVO wheelbases, or €609, €659 and €849 with the MagLink Pro for other wheelbases.
If you're starting from scratch, the Alpha EVO + P1000 2-pedal + Zeus GT bundle (€1,339) brings together a 12 Nm wheelbase, steering wheel and pedals with a load cell brake. To choose your pedals, read our Simagic pedals guide.
Aston Martin Valkyrie: the licensed replica
The Simagic Aston Martin Valkyrie (€979), unveiled in October 2026, is Simagic's first steering wheel licensed by a car manufacturer. It replicates the steering wheel of the Aston Martin Valkyrie, the hybrid hypercar developed with Red Bull Racing: according to Simagic, it was rebuilt from the original data of the car's steering wheel, and every unit carries the Aston Martin logo, an engraved nameplate and a laser-engraved serial number underneath the steering wheel.
It's a 320 mm GT steering wheel with a carbon fibre faceplate, a magnesium alloy back and Alcantara grips; it weighs 1.72 kg without the quick release. In the centre is a 5-inch colour touch display (480×800) with the Valkyrie's dashboard interface. The controls are 8 RGB buttons, 2 5-way switches, 2 self-centring levers and the start/stop button, plus rev LEDs and a hidden horn button. On the back there are two shift paddles and two analogue clutch paddles with Hall sensors, on an interchangeable UP+ module.
It communicates via CAN FD, USB or Wi-Fi (2.4 and 5.8 GHz), has the AM QR50 quick release built in and is configured with SimPro Manager; Simagic also lists it as SimHub-ready. It works on PC only. On Alpha EVO wheelbases it mounts directly, and the display communicates wirelessly with the PC via the Air Link. On previous-generation Alpha wheelbases, the M10 and other brands' wheelbases, you need the MagLink Pro instead, sold separately, just as with the Zeus steering wheels: this is what Simagic distributors specify. If you're unsure about your setup, ask our support team before ordering.
Early reviews, such as those from OverTake and Traxion, praise its materials, finish and display. The limitation is the controls: it has no encoders or 7-way switches, you have to take a hand off the steering wheel to reach the lower ones, and drivers who often adjust traction control and brake balance during a race may run short of buttons. Compared with a Zeus GT with MagicDash 4 (€619), it costs €360 more: you're paying for the licence, the materials and the larger display. It's the steering wheel for those who want a faithful replica of a real car on their cockpit, rather than the most controls per euro spent.
What you need for Zeus and MagicDash 4, wheelbase by wheelbase
The accessories you need depend on the wheelbase. This is Simagic's official compatibility matrix, the same one you'll find on our product pages:
| What you're fitting | Wheelbase | Required accessory | SimHub |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zeus with MagicDash 4 | Alpha EVO | Air Link | Dashboard |
| MagicDash 4 on its own | Alpha EVO | Air Link | Dashboard |
| Zeus without display | Alpha EVO | None | Not supported |
| Zeus with MagicDash 4 | Alpha, Alpha Mini, Alpha U | MagLink Pro or MagLink Pro Xtend | Dashboard and lights |
| Zeus without display | Alpha, Alpha Mini, Alpha U | MagLink Pro or MagLink Pro Xtend | Lights |
| Zeus with MagicDash 4 | Other brands' wheelbases | MagLink Pro | Dashboard and lights |
| Zeus without display | Other brands' wheelbases | MagLink Pro | Lights |
| MagicDash 4 on its own | Other brands' wheelbases | MagDock | Dashboard |
Here's what the four accessories do:
- Air Link (€55): wireless receiver that connects to the PC and sends telemetry to the MagicDash 4. On Alpha EVO wheelbases it's required to use the display.
- MagLink Pro (€55): delivers power and data to the steering wheel via a magnetic cable. It has a dedicated power supply (5 V, 4 A) and a plate for 50 and 70 mm quick releases. It works with Zeus, GT Neo X and GT Neo.
- MagLink Pro Xtend (€109): the version for previous-generation Alpha wheelbases and the M10, with a CNC-machined aluminium quick release connector. It also enables USB mode on the GT Neo X and GT Neo with SimHub.
- MagDock (€55): magnetic mount for fitting the MagicDash 4 to the wheelbase instead of the steering wheel, on Alpha wheelbases and other brands' wheelbases with front mounting holes.
A surprising detail: on an Alpha EVO, a Zeus without a display needs no accessories, but SimHub doesn't support it. If you want to use SimHub for lights and dashboards, get the Zeus with MagicDash 4 and Air Link.
On other brands' wheelbases
GT Neo, GT Neo X and Zeus can also be fitted to other brands' wheelbases: the steering wheel connects to the PC via a magnetic cable and the game recognises it as a separate device. FX Pro, GTS and GT Pro, on the other hand, are designed for Simagic wheelbases, and their product pages don't list any other brands' wheelbases. For the Aston Martin Valkyrie, you'll find the details in its section.
- GT Neo and GT Neo X: the MagLink (€29) is a magnetic connector with an adapter plate for 50 and 70 mm quick releases, a magnetic USB cable and an extension with T-nuts to secure it to your cockpit. The GT Neo product page lists it for Fanatec, Simucube and MOZA wheelbases; with the MagLink, the GT Neo also works with SimHub. It has 3 five-star reviews: one customer fitted it with a GT Neo on a Simucube 3 Pro and says everything works.
- Zeus: you need the MagLink Pro, which delivers more power to steering wheels with a display. It also works with the GT Neo and GT Neo X, so it's the smart choice if you're thinking of moving to a Zeus later on.
For the full picture on quick releases and adapters between different brands, see our guide to steering wheel and wheelbase compatibility. If you have a Fanatec wheelbase and are looking for a formula steering wheel with a display, also take a look at our guide to Fanatec formula steering wheels, which fit without adapters.
Which one to choose
- First Simagic steering wheel, budget under €300: GT Neo. It's complete, with shift paddles and clutch paddles included.
- You want to choose the rim, including from other brands: GT Neo X with a UP+ module, or a complete version such as the 310G or the 330R.
- Rally and drift: GT Neo X 330T or 350W, GT Pro R or Zeus Sport.
- Formula and prototypes: FX Pro if you want the built-in display; Zeus Formula if you want more controls and the MagicDash 4.
- GT3 and endurance with telemetry right in front of you: Zeus GT with MagicDash 4.
- A round leather steering wheel for everything: GTS; GT Pro if you want dedicated TC and ABS encoders and dual clutch paddles.
- The official replica of a real steering wheel: Aston Martin Valkyrie, with a 5-inch touch display; the easiest setup is on an Alpha EVO.
- Another brand's wheelbase: GT Neo or GT Neo X with MagLink, Zeus with MagLink Pro.
- You race in VR: a steering wheel without a display, such as the GT Neo or a Zeus without MagicDash 4.
Mistakes to avoid
- Buying the GT Neo X thinking it's a complete steering wheel. The hub has no rim or paddles: they have to be bought separately, or you can choose a version with a rim.
- Buying the MagicDash 4 for an Alpha EVO without the Air Link. On EVO wheelbases, the Air Link is required for the display to work.
- Fitting a Zeus to another brand's wheelbase without the MagLink Pro. In the Simagic matrix it's the required accessory for these wheelbases, with or without a display.
- Confusing the MagLink with the MagLink Pro. The MagLink is for the GT Neo and GT Neo X; the Zeus steering wheels need the Pro.
- Expecting them to work on console. Simagic steering wheels work on PC only: if you play on PS5 or Xbox, read our guide to steering wheels for PS5 and Xbox.
- Choosing the diameter on looks alone. On the same wheelbase, a smaller steering wheel feels heavier in your hands.
